Festival of King Island

February 14 - 15

Returning after a one-year hiatus, The Festival of King Island will feature a day-and-a-half of live music, local food and drink, and activities including yoga sessions, golf, surfing, and coastal walks.

Held in the amphitheatre of Currie Harbour, organisers say the event will showcase "everything that is so authentic and memorable about King Island, including hospitality and a laid-back atmosphere".

This year features 16 musical acts, including Brisbane rock band Reckless Coast and The Stovies, and blues artists Phil Coyne and The Wayward Aces.

The festival was first held in 2013 in a moment of solidarity for the community, after the closure of the King Island abattoir, which caused significant job losses.

Since then, the festival has evolved into a community-run event. In 2024, about 1000 people attended.

Festival of King Island is at Currie Harbour, King Island, on February 13 to 14. Find out more and purchase tickets at www.foki.com.au/.
