A woman has died and a man has been airlifted to hospital after a serious glider crash.

Tasmania Police have said the Tasmanian woman, in her early fifties, died from her injuries after a glider crashed about 2pm at a private airfield on Tunbridge Tier Road, Tunbridge, on Sunday afternoon.
A man in his mid sixties, who police say was pilot of the glider, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Cause under investigation
Tasmania Police Inspector Aleena Crack said the man and woman were part of a group, which included the woman's husband, who were at the airfield on Sunday.
"Police can confirm there has been a fatal crash involving a glider at Tunbridge and that sadly, the female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene," Inspector Crack said.
"There was a larger group of people at the airfield at the time, and this is obviously a tragic outcome for these families and friends."
Emergency crews remain at the scene, and authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
