A drink driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene of a crash that injured a teenage girl and a man on a busy inner-city road.
Police say the pedestrians were hit by an out-of-control Audi SUV on Chapel Street in Windsor, in Melbourne's inner southeast, about 10pm on Thursday.
Officers allege the car was travelling at speed before the crash, which ended when it slammed into a brick wall about 50 metres from the scene.
The car was significantly damaged after crashing into the wall near a tram stop and pedestrian crossing.
The driver allegedly tried to run from the wreck before he was detained by witnesses, police say.
An 18-year-old girl and 63-year-old man were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The 33-year-old driver, who returned a positive preliminary breath test for alcohol, was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police arrested and interviewed the driver in relation to several alleged offences, including driving in a dangerous manner and reckless conduct endangering serious injury.
He has been released and is expected to be charged on summons.
