The reigning premiers, equipped with a collection of off-season recruits, overcame a slow start to get their premiership defence off to a strong start.
NTFA division two premiers East Coast travelled to a blustery Campbell Town and were the slowest to adapt to the end-to-end wind.
But the Swans' class shone through, coming out on top as 15.18 (108) to 5.7 (37) winners.
East Coast lost a few long-term servants of the club over the off-season so they brought in a couple of Rocherlea's premiership stars, Dakota Bannister and Jordan Cousens.
Both had quite a lot of the football, Bannister in particular proved tough to handle, his size and speed did not have a natural match-up.
Despite being underdogs, it was the home side who started better in the opening term with the breeze.
Craig Burling got their first with a quick snap out of a stoppage but it was met with a swift reply from Jared Mason, who would find the big sticks a further four times to finish with five for the game.
The Robins were generating the chances but missing.

Skipper Jonty Nicholson did not miss though, nor did Nedd Carr, who wrenched it out of the ruck and slammed it through to build a small buffer.
But Bannister gave the Swans a little momentum heading into the first break, winning the initial clearance at centre wing and then working his way down to the forward 50 to get a handball receive and complete the chain.
East Coast coach Nathan Lowe was disappointed with the way his troops were moving the ball and urged a bit of patience when transitioning the ball.
It was a man who had not played the past two seasons that turned the game around.
Michael Musicka kicked one major and set up another in the second term while being a general pest that Campbell Town's defence struggled to maintain.
The goal he set up was brilliant.
He burst out of a tight space in the pocket, breaking a couple of tackles to get the ball to the top of the goal square where Tadgh Blunt whipped one through off his boot.
They kicked four for the term and had shaken off any sign that they were losing this contest.
It continued into the third quarter and Cousens and Bannister were at the forefront of it.
Both kicked quick goals out of the centre stoppage.
Both could not be stopped.
Charlie Artis was a bright spot for the Robins, his ball use by foot stood out and he assisted one of the two second-half Campbell Town goals, kicking a penetrating ball over the East Coast defence to Corry Goodluck who was sitting back shoulder.
East Coast piled on seven goals to one against the breeze in the third term, putting the result beyond doubt as they romped home to a 71-point win.
In the other NTFA division two games, last season's runners up Perth 33.11 defeated Meander Valley 33.11 (209) to 3.2 (20) and Bridport got a big home victory against UTAS, winning 18.23 (131) to 3.3 (21).
