The result didn't go the Devils' way, but one of their stars flexed his muscles in the 61-point loss to Brisbane.

Former Essendon Bomber Jye Menzie kicked five majors in his 19-disposal performance while the Devils were defeated 21.13 (139) to 11.12 (78) in Queensland.

North-West Coaster Harry Elmer had 26 disposals, Lachy Hay 24, Brandon Leary 22 and Nelson Beikoff-Smart 21, while Brisbane's Curtis McCarthy kicked five goals and AFL-listed Cody Curtin and Fergus McFadyen four.

AFL premiership player Sam Marshall had 32 touches, Luke Beecken 26 and Tasmanian-born former Lauderdale player Sam Tilley 24 disposals in a two-goal showing.

Despite the Lions being an AFL-affiliated side, they came into the contest having only one won match for the season, sitting at the bottom of the ladder while the Devils were fourth.

However, the first quarter well and truly belonged to the home side, kicking six goals to one to take a 32-point lead into quarter-time.

The Devils' solitary goal came through Harry Elmer, capitalising on the impressive work up the field by Caleb Mitchell and Harry Elmer to snap one through.

Brisbane's Tilley looked lively up forward for the Lions, showing his home state what could have been by kicking their fourth major of the term.

An early second-quarter goal extended the Lions' lead before the Devils started to look lively, but missed creative snaps through Sam Siggins and Menzie.

Menzie eventually ended the Devils' 29-minute goal drought with a snapping set-shot from the boundary, and Will Splann joined the party to garner some hope.

But the Lions had other ideas with two more majors, the latter through Tilley, before Menzie continued to make his mark on the contest, kicking his second while setting up another for Maddox Iverach.

Brisbane goaled late in the term against momentum to create a 28-point buffer at the main break, which the Lions added to five minutes into the second half.

The Devils began their comeback through Caleb Mitchell before Menzie added his third and fourth in quick succession to get the margin to as low as 15 points.

But the Lions couldn't be tamed, kicking the next four majors until Hugh Dixon goaled late in the quarter to trail by 38 points at the final break.

Brisbane added to its lead less than a minute into the last term and continued to put the nail in the coffin for the club's second win of the season despite last-quarter Devils majors to Baxter Norton and Menzie.

The Devils' next game is on home soil next weekend, hosting Box Hill at Penguin's Dial Park.
